Jim, Walt, Danielle, and Tim Meyers
Choosing a funeral director is a very personal matter. Many times families develop a tradition of using one funeral home for several generations. This speaks very highly for that firm; however, people are presently becoming more conscious of service, selection and especially cost.
Our father started the Walter J. Meyers Funeral Home in 1946, and we have been serving families in the Delaware Valley for over 63 years. Walter J. Jr. has been a licensed funeral director for 42 years and James T. has been a licensed funeral director for 29 years. We have over
100 years combined experience as funeral directors.
Walt J. Meyers Jr. was born June 23, 1945. He is the oldest born to Walt and Eileen. He is a 1959 graduate from St. Leo Parochial School, a 1963 graduate of Father Judge High School, a 1967 Graduate of LaSalle College, and a 1968 Graduate of Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. On June 10, 1970, he enlisted in the Air National Guard of New Jersey and as a Reserve of the Air Force where he was decorated with the Air Reserve Forces Meritorious Ribbon, and served in the Vietnam War. He served as a Medic and a weapons Technician. Staff Sergeant Walter J. Meyers, Jr. was honorably discharged of his military services on June 9, 1976.
He is a Member and Past Grand Knight of St. Leo’s Knights of Columbus #1294, a Member of St. Leo’s Holy Name Society, St. Leo’s 4th Degree, St. Leo’s Men’s Association, a Member of the William D. Oxley American Legion Post #133 where he served as Finance Officer from 1992 to 2002, and he received a Citation for Meritorious Service for this office held, he is a Member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians Div. #39, he also is a Church Cantor and a Member of St. Leo’s Choir. He currently resides in Philadelphia where he is an active member of St. Leo’s Church.
James T. Meyers was born on October 25, 1955. He is the fourth youngest to Walt and Eileen. He is a 1969 Graduate of St. Leo’s Parochial School, a 1973 Graduate of Father Judge High School, received an Associates Degree in business management from Bucks County Community College, and a 1981 Graduate of American Academy McAllister Institute of Mortuary Science in NY.
On January 15, 1974, he enlisted in the Air Force where he was decorated with the NDSM, AFOUA, AFGCM, and the AFR, he served during the Vietnam War. He served as a Crew Chief on the F4 Fighter Jet. Sergeant James T. Meyers was honorably discharged from the military on January 13, 1978.
He is a Member of St. Leo’s Knights of Columbus #1294, a 4th Degree Past President of St. Leo’s, a Member of St. John Neumann Assembly, and a Member of William D. Oxley American Legion Post #133 where he has served as Senior Vice Commander. He currently resides in Hatboro where he is a member of St David Church.
Timothy J. Meyers was born on January 17, 1962. He was the eighth of nine children to Walt and Eileen. He was a 1975 graduate of St. Leo’s Parochial School, and a 1979 graduate of Father Judge High School, received an associates degree from Bucks County Community College, and a 1982 graduate of Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. He was a former member of St. Leo’s Knights of Columbus, and little league coach at Vogt Playground. He currently resides in Wilmington, DE where he is a member of St. Helena’s RC Church, member of Christopher Council K of C, and the Brandywine-Naamans Rotary Club. He served on the Board of the Can-Do Playground, and is a current board member of Sellers Senior Center. Tim has 4 daughters; Lauren, Apryl, Julia and Tori. Tim is licensed in PA and DE and is expanding the Walter J. Meyers Funeral Home into Delaware by offering funeral services though Schoenberg Memorial Chapel located at 519 Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington, DE 19809.
We have joined together as brothers and family to expand the Walter J. Meyers Funeral Home, P.C. We have our original facility in Philadelphia and are currently renting the facilities of Schoenberg Memorial Chapel at 519 Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington, and are offering our experience and expertise in all Phases of cremation, and funeral services to the families of Delaware, and Pennsylvania. We feel it is our privilege to serve each family as if they were a member of our own, and offer guidance and support in arranging a meaningful service to commemorate a life well lived.
