A. Matilda Meredith

A. Matilda (Radcliffe) Meredith passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2009 at the Meadows at Shannondell in Lower Providence Twp., PA. She was 98. Mrs. Meredith was a previous resident of Norristown, PA. She attended Norristown schools and was a graduate of Keystone Commercial College. Matilda worked as an executive secretary for the government during WW II. She retired from the Reading Railroad-Freight Traffic Division and she also worked at the former Chatlins Department Store in Norristown, PA. She liked to knit, read and bake shoo-fly pies for relatives and friends. Matilda was an active member of Central Presbyterian Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and board member of the Church's Womans' Association.Born in Norristown, PA on February 12, 1911, she was a daughter of the late John S. and Elizabeth P. (Patton) Radcliffe. She was the wife of the late Marwood B. Meredith Sr., who died in 2001. Surviving are a son, The Rev. Marwood B. Meredith, Jr. and his wife, Katherine of Aledo, TX; 3 granddaughters: Katy Kreider, Blair Patterson and Brittany Pauley; and 2 great-grandchildren: Emma and Kyler Patterson; three nieces and a nephew and their spouses; great-nephews and a great-niece; a cousin, Anna Handwork of Oaks, PA; and a long-time friend, Marion Hazzard of Norristown, PA. She was preceded in death by a brother, William Radcliffe.Relatives and friends are invited to her Graveside Service at Valley Forge Memorial Gardens, 352 S. Gulph Rd., King of Prussia, PA 19406 on Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at 11:30am. Officiating will be William R. Schuler, Pastor. Please assemble at the cemetery office at 11:15am for procession to the grave. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Central Presbyterian Church, 900 W.
