Alexander Anthony Pagnotta

Alexander Anthony Pagnotta age 89 of Jeffersonville  died on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Einstein Hospital.  Born on October 19, 1923 in Pittsburgh, Pa to the late Pietro and Teresa Pagnotta.  He is also preceded in death by a brother, Frank Pagnotta and 2 sister’s Mary Downing and Annette Jellick. Alex was a WWII Army Veteran, honorably discharged on October 20, 1943; he was a district manager of National Life Insurance Co. until his retirement in 1981.  Since 1948 he worked in several district offices including Pittsburgh, New Brighton, Cleveland, Baltimore and Philadelphia.  Upon his retirement, he continued his volunteer work, He was a State Coordinator of PA “Just Say No” Clubs, past president and secretary of the Eagleville Trooper Lion’s Club, past secretary and zone chairman of district 14-R, past president and assistant State Director of AARP Schuylkill Valley Chapter 3936, founder and past president of National Life Retiree Club, Treasurer of Lower Providence Community Library, chairman of Lower Providence Parks and Recreation Board, board member of Crisis Intervention Methacton School District, active member of Lower Providence Volunteer Civilian Force, active member of Methacton Key Communicators, past president of the Wedgewood Community Club, co-founder and treasurer of the Methacton Wolverines Pop Warner football club and a parishioner of St. Teresa of Avila.   Alex also found time to work part time at Kmart as a door greeter and Santa Claus.  In his early years in Pittsburgh, he founded two semi pro football teams, one semi pro basketball team and a midget football team.  He also was a member of Pop Warner football serving as a regional director. Alex is survived by his wife of 70 years, Angeline Pagnotta; daughter, Donna Lavin and son-in-law, Marty of Chicago, IL; son, Alex Pagnotta and daughter-in-law, Linda of Baltimore, MD; daughter, Theresa MiKula and son-in-law, John of Nova, OH; son, Randy Pagnotta and daughter-in-law, Peggy of Collegeville, PA; sister, Helen Banks and brother-in-law, Bud; brother, Richard Pagnotta and sister-in-law, Theresa both of Pittsburgh, PA; 14 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.  Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 7 to 9 pm Tuesday and 8:30 to 9:20 am Wednesday at Szpindor-Meyers Funeral Home, 101 N. Park Ave., Norristown (Rt. 363 in Trooper, PA).  Mass of Christian burial 10 am Wednesday, May 22nd at St. Teresa of Avila Ch., 1260 S. Trooper Rd., Norristown.  Entombment in Limerick Garden of Memories. In lieu of flowers contributions in Alex’s name may be made to American Diabetes Association, 1701 N. Beauregard St., Alexandria, VA 22311. Viewing: 7-9 pm Tuesday, May 21              8:30-9:20 am Wed., May 22 at Funeral Home Mass: 10 am Wed. St Teresa of Avila Entombment: Limerick Garden of Memories. Contributions: American Diabetes Association.
