Americo A. Basile

Americo A. “Mickey” Basile, 94, passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at Brightview E. Norriton. Mr. Basile was a resident of Bridgeport, PA. He retired in 1986 as a driver and salesman for the former 7-Up Bottling Company in Plymouth Twp., PA. During retirement he worked at the Philadelphia Country Club. Mickey was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Bridgeport. He served with the fourth division, 23rd Regiment of the US Marine Corps, and fought in the battle of Iwo Jima, February 1945 WWII. He was a lifetime member of the Mt. Carmel Sport Club, VFW and Knights of Columbus. Born in the Black Horse section of Plymouth Twp., PA, he was a son of the late Giuseppe and Colomba (DeSimone) Basile. He was the husband of the late Mildred T. (Kolbasowski) Basile, who died in 2000. They were married 52 years. Surviving is his loving family including a son, Joseph Basile of Bridgeport, PA; 4 daughters: Laraine DeMedio of King of Prussia, PA, Phyllis (and Anthony) DiCicco of Trooper, PA, Lois (and Keith) Hahn of West Chester, PA and Joyce (and Joe) Lesinski of Collegeville, PA. He has 12 grandchildren: Amber (Greg) Tucholski, William DeMedio Jr, Nina (Jonathan) Wickersham, Marla DiCicco, Dara (Mark) Viti, Joe (Erin) Armideo, Greg (Carol) Hahn, Carly Hahn, Eric, Drew, Maddie, and Heather Lesinski; 8 great-grandchildren; Mason, Grady, Alden, Truman, Valentino, Marciano, Anna, and Ali; a brother, Silvio Basile of Gilbertsville, PA; a brother-in-law, Santo “Sonny” Ciliberto; 2 sisters-in-law, Bertha “Mickey” Basile and Louise Basile; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers: Alex, Michael and Joseph; and sisters: Yolanda Basile, Gloria Ciliberto, Sadie Ross, Helen Eason, Jennie Basile, Marge DiMartino and Mary Swon. Funeral services and interment will be private at the request of the family. Memorial contributions may be made in Mickey’s memory to a charity of the donor’s choice.
