Angela "Angie" Rose Matz

Angela “Angie” Rose (Parisi) Matz passed away on Friday, September 15th, 2023, in King of Prussia, PA. She was born October 1st, 1933, to Antonio and Concetta (Festa) Parisi. Angela is preceded in death by her husband, James and their son, David. Angela is survived by her sister Mary Virginia (Parisi) Adams, her six sons and daughters-in-law: James Matz, Jr. and Bertha (Weber) Matz of Bridgeport, PA, Michael Matz of Monroe, LA, Colonel Jon and Aimée (Zohn) Matz of Lebanon, OH, Matthew and Robin (Watson) Matz of Downingtown, PA, Joel and Nicole (Vickers) Matz of Pottstown, PA, and Marc Matz of King of Prussia, PA. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren: Birdie (Matz) and Chris Hoy, James Matz, III, Michael Matz, David Matz, Katie Matz, Tyler Matz, Ethan Matz, and Charlie Matz and two great grandchildren: Autumn and Willow Hoy.

At the urging of her high school friend, and future sister-in-law, Gloria (Matz) Seifrit, Angela met her husband of 55 years by first corresponding with him while he was in the United States Marine Corps and serving in the Korean War. Her future husband, then TSgt James Matz, left the Marine Corps to marry Angela and raise a family. Angela lived a life devoted to her family. Her love of children even inspired her to be a foster parent.

Born in Reading, PA, she eventually moved to King of Prussia, PA due to her husband’s work with AT&T. She was a huge animal lover and always seemed to have a friendly dog by her side. She was well known for her Italian ancestry and amazing Italian cooking. She loved to play cards, especially Texas-Holdem poker, at family gatherings, and always served as the hostess for the annual Thanksgiving celebration. Since living in King of Prussia, Angela, her husband and sons were all members of Good Shepard Lutheran Church.

Relatives and friends are invited to Angie’s funeral service on Thursday, September 21st, at The Bacchi Funeral Home & Crematory, Ltd., 805 DeKalb St., Bridgeport, PA. The viewing will be at 10:00 AM, with prayer service at 11:00 AM. The interment will be private at Forest Hills Memorial Park in Reading, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made on Angie’s behalf to any Alzheimer’s organization to help find a cure for this heartbreaking disease.
