Anna Bello (née Valerio) - better known as Bay or Mommom - passed away in her home on October 3, 2023. She was 83 years old.
Bay was raised as one of five children in Bridgeport, PA by her Italian-immigrant parents, who taught her about hard work and sacrifice, two characteristics that Bay epitomized and passed down to her family. While attending Bridgeport High, Bay thrived at sports. She was a cheerleader and avid field hockey and basketball player. This is where she would also meet the love of her life and future husband, Salvatore “Sal” F. Bello Sr. After Sal finally scored a date with Bay to the school dance, they jitterbugged the night away and the rest is history. Sal and Bay would have been married 63 years on October 8, 2023.
Bay worked at Bell Telephone in Conshohocken, PA in her early adult life, while raising two children, Lisa and Salvatore Jr. Her children were her world and she was a hands-on mother, often volunteering at their schools and extracurricular events. Bay was a fixture at the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Feast in Bridgeport. You could find her every July at the Catholic shop, selling goods and chatting, always with a smile on her face.
Bay was known by the entire town of Bridgeport for her warmth, selflessness, patience, and Italian cooking. She often fed the neighborhood, and eventually, her growing family of grandchildren. Later in her life, Bay (along with her husband and friends, the Veramonti’s) became an owner and hostess of Peppers Italian Restaurant in King of Prussia, PA.
Bay loved her family above all else and her generosity knew no limits. She touched many lives and leaves a legacy of kindness and grace. Bay will be missed more than words can express.
Anna “Bay” Bello is preceded in death by her parents, Felice Valerio and Anna Valerio (née Durante), and siblings, Dina Valerio, Mary Patson (née Valerio), Nicola Valerio, and Anthony Valerio.
She leaves behind many loving family members: Her husband, Salvatore F. Bello Sr. Her daughter, Lisa McGinley (née Bello) and son-in-law, Michael McGinley. Her son, Salvatore F. Bello Jr. and daughter-in-law, Mariellen Bello (née Deskins). Her beloved grandchildren, Michael (Laura McGinley), Kara, Salvatore III (Jillian Bello), and Alexa. As well as her nieces, nephews, cousins, countless cherished friends, and her dog, peaches, too.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Visitation BVM Church (Lower Church) 196 N. Trooper Rd. Eagleville, PA 19403 from 9:15-10:45am, with her Funeral Mass beginning at 11:00 am. Interment will be at St. Augustine Cemetery, King of Prussia, PA.
