Anna “Ninetta” Teresa Toro (nee Messere) passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2026 at Jefferson Einstein Hospital in E. Norriton, PA. She was 97 years old. Ninetta was a longtime resident of King of Prussia, where her and her husband built their house on Valley Forge Road. She was a member of the former Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Bridgeport, PA, where she was very active in their annual Italian Feast.
Born in Fresagrandinaria, Province of Chieti, Italy on October 14, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Cosmo and Angiolina (nee Liberatore) Messere. Ninetta came to the United States in her early adulthood and married her beloved husband, James L. Toro, who sadly passed away in 1973. She worked for many years in the Upper Merion School District Cafeteria. After her husband passed, she started working as an assembler of medical parts for Extracorporeal Medical Specialties until her retirement. After retirement, Ninetta loved volunteering and participated in the Montgomery County Foster Grandparents Program. She enjoyed working in her vegetable garden and loved cooking her Italian specialties like pizza, cookies, and homemade pasta.
Ninetta is survived by her loving family including her son, Joseph C. Toro; her daughter, Diane Bernardini (John); two granddaughters, Stephanie and Amanda Bernardini; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her sisters, Antoinette and Congetta; and her brother, Joseph.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Ninetta’s viewing on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 from 9am to 11am at The Bacchi Funeral Home & Crematory, 805 DeKalb St. Bridgeport, PA 19405. Her funeral service will begin at 11am. Interment will be in St. Augustine Cemetery, King of Prussia, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ninetta's name to the Foster Grandparents Program.
