Anthony J. 'Tony' Almeida

Anthony J. "Tony" Almeida passed away peacefully on Monday, July 9, 2012, surrounded by his loving family at his residence in Bridgeport, PA. He was 80 and a lifelong resident of Bridgeport. Mr. Almeida worked as a pharmacist for Rite Aid in Pottstown, PA. He was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Bridgeport, where he was an annual feast worker and a member of the Holy Name Society.Mr. Almeida was a US Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving as a staff sergeant from 1951 to 1955. Born in Bridgeport, PA on October 17, 1931, he was a son of the late Joseph and Marie (DeLeo) Almeida. He was the husband of the late Clara C. (DiGenova) Almeida, who died in September of 2011. Surviving is his loving family including a son, Joseph A. Almeida and his wife, Tracy, of Steubenville, OH; two daughters, Carol Schutz and her husband, Michael, of Malvern, PA and Lisa Wallace and her husband, Paul, of Hockessin, DE; ten grandchildren: John, Ben, Sam, David, Johanna, Suzanna & Elizabeth Almeida, Sammy Schutz, and Ben & Elyssa Wallace; five great-grandchildren: Anastasia, Rose, Robert and Thomas Almeida, and Sam Almeida; a sister, Gloria Makoid and her husband, Joseph, of Bridgeport, PA; and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Kolanko. Relatives & friends are invited to Tony's Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 502 Ford St. Bridgeport, PA 19405 on Friday, July 13, 2012 at 10:00 am. His viewings will be Thursday evening from 6 to 8pm, at The Bacchi Funeral Home and Crematory, Ltd., 805 DeKalb St. (Rt. 202), Bridgeport, PA 19405; and Friday morning from 9 to 9:50 am, at the church.
