Anthony Thomas Betz, age 72, of Philadelphia, PA, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 30, 2026, in Langhorne, PA. Born on March 7, 1954, in Abington, PA, he was a son to the late Celeste (Wills) and Frederick P. Betz. He spent his “one wild and precious life” (Mary Oliver’s phrase) in adventures that took him far from his family, but circumstances brought him back in recent years, to our gratitude. Nostalgia for his childhood filled many a conversation.
Anthony attended Archbishop Wood High School, graduating in 1972, and worked in retail until health issues retired him. He enjoyed pop music, especially the Beatles, throughout his life, and he would sing tunes to his beloved wife, Sharon, in her hospitalization.
Anthony is the loving father of Lisa Betz and remained friends with her mother, his first wife Ellen, and they have a talented granddaughter, Carmen.
He is also survived by his siblings Paul Betz (Dorothy), Mary Celeste, Trudy (Joseph), Margaret Betz (John Chropovka), Rose Betz-Zall (Jonathan), sister-in-law Joyce Betz and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a brother, Louis.
Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation Friday, August 28th from 10-10:50 AM followed by his funeral mass at 11 AM both held at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 856 Euclid Ave. Warrington, PA 18976.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Philadelphia Corporation for Aging (PCA), online at pcacares.org, or by mail: Philadelphia Corporation for Aging, Wallace Building, 642 N Broad St., Philadelphia, PA 19130-3049. Your contributions will help provide crucial services, enabling vulnerable older adults to preserve their dignity and independence.
