Antonio P. “Tony” Ballestero passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 14, 2017. He was 93. Mr. Ballestero was a resident of King of Prussia, PA and was previously of Saratoga Springs, NY. He worked as a Professional Civil Engineer whose career included design and construction of varied engineering projects including the NJ Turnpike, the NY State Thruway, I-95 in PA, sanitary landfills and transfer stations, township engineering in 5 PA townships, inspections of high hazard dams in NY, valuations of sanitary landfills, bridge replacements in various PA counties, and reconstruction of several major highways in PA. He co-authored several manuals for EPA on remediation of abandoned landfills. Tony was an expert witness on solid waste involving chemical companies. During the last 20 years of his career, Antonio was a self-employed consulting civil engineer. He was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Society of American Military Engineers, American Society Highway Engineers, National Society of Professional Engineers and the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers. Tony was a member of Mother of Divine Providence Church in King of Prussia, PA and St. Clements Church in New York. He enjoyed woodworking, designing and construction of trains and dollhouses for his grandchildren. Tony was a US Army veteran of WW II and earned 5 Battle Stars. He participated in the European Theatre of Operations, Normandy, Central Europe, Northern France, Ardennes and the Rhineland. Born in Waterbury, CT on August 30, 1923, he was a son of the late Antonio and Francisca (Garcia-Prada) Ballestero. Surviving is his loving family including his wife, Angela (Ancona) Ballestero; a daughter, Sandra Belinski and her significant other, Derick Peck, of Greenwood, SC; two sons, Anthony Ballestero and his wife, Jeanne, of Novato, CA and Thomas Ballestero and his wife, Trisha, of Madbury, NH; seven grandchildren: Kerry, Michael, Joel, Heather and Alyssa Ballestero, and William and Christie Belinski; two brothers, Manuel & James Ballestero; and many other loving family members. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Ignacio. Relatives & friends are invited to Tony’s Funeral Mass at St. Clements Church in Saratoga Springs, NY on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at 10:00 am. Interment will follow in St. Peters Cemetery, Saratoga Springs. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Tony’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
