Ashley Marie Martin, 33, of Philadelphia, PA passed away Thursday, January 11th, 2024 at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia after a brief unexpected illness.
Ashley was born in Philadelphia, PA on July 24, 1990, first born daughter of Joseph Martin and the late Michelle Wilkins.
Ashley was a bright light from the moment she entered this world. Her laugh brought you instant joy. Her smile filled the room with sunshine. Ashley is a strikingly beautiful person, both inside and out. She was kind, quirky, a little nerdy but never ashamed of it, and the best of friends anyone could have.
Ashley enjoyed making herself into a “new” person by frequently changing the color of her hair, as seen in her photos. Ashley would cut and/or color her hair at the drop of a hat. If she was feeling down, here came a new hair color. Ashley also enjoyed applying the perfect winged eyeliner and lip, and showing the Facebook world her perfection. She was a truly beautiful woman, on the outside and even more on the inside. Her beautiful soul is indescribable.
Ashley also immensely enjoyed shopping in the many thrift shoppes in the Fishtown section of Philadelphia. She had an innate ability to find the perfect gems and make a whole outfit.
Ashley was her Dad’s best friend and supporter. They would enjoy a Sunday morning breakfast most weekends. These times were the highlights of his weeks.
Ashley always wanted to bring joy into other’s lives. And she did.
Ashley loved her nephew Thomas with her whole heart. She thought he was the sweetest, smartest little boy on earth. He was able to put a smile on her face no matter what. She enjoyed every minute she was able to spend with him, including many weekends swimming at her Dad’s friend’s pool. So many happy memories were made.
Ashley also enjoyed quiet, simple days, walking around her neighborhood, stopping to get coffee or a snack, listening to her music on her headphones, or dancing in her room.
She also enjoyed cooking, and would often share photos of her latest scrumptious looking creation.
Ashley worked at a company called Vertical Screen. From her friend and co-worker Kasia: “Ashley was a valued, respected and trusted Account Manager. She was a smiling face and a helping hand, quick to make you laugh and determined to always do it…her way. She was a wonderful friend and confidant. She leaves those who knew and loved her at work with a big void that can never be replaced, because she can never be replaced. Ashley will be greatly missed.”
Ashley is survived by her Dad who misses her immensely, two little sisters, Courtney and Taylor, her grandparents Raymond and Margaret Martin (Mommom’s “princess”), her Aunt Susan Loyden, Uncle and Godfather Raymond Martin Jr., cousins who were more like brothers Greg (Brittany) and Chris Ostapchuk, Raymond Martin III, her beloved nephew Thomas Dixon Jr., and many other extended family members who loved her dearly.
In writing this about Ashley, I kept saying I felt like I was not adequately describing my beautiful niece. Then Chris pointed out “that’s because it is impossible to adequately describe who Ashley was.” - “Aunt Sue”
