Barbara Ann Thomas

January 13, 1937 — March 31, 2024

Barbara Ann Thomas, 87, of King of Prussia, PA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 31, 2024, after a prolonged confluence of medical conditions.

She was born January 13, 1937, in Rutherford, NJ, to the late John “Cliff” C. Nichols and Illyf B. (nee Drake) Nichols. After graduating as valedictorian at Montclair State University she taught college algebra and later combined her love of dance and teaching to become an aerobics instructor and choreographer, developing lifelong friendships with her students. Barbara traveled the world with her husband, Ron, but loved coming home to life with her cats, plants, books and puzzles. In addition, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends playing bridge, going on neighborhood walks, and taking nature hikes. She was extraordinarily organized and was known for her impeccable penmanship, thoughtful correspondence, and timely holiday and birthday cards. Barbara put the needs of others before her own, particularly caring for her mother. Her practical sensibilities led to a life of contentment and an appreciation for the simpler things in life... especially cookies and ice cream.

Barbara was predeceased in death by her beloved husband, Roland “Ron” G. Thomas. She is survived by her brother, John A. Nichols, Sr. (Carol); her two sons, Roy D. Thomas, Keith A. Thomas (Sarah Bubolz), and her granddaughter, May L. Bubolz Thomas.

A private family service will be held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Chester, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Pennsylvania SPCA: 350 E. Erie Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19134; (215) 426-6300; https://www.pspca.org/tribute-memorial-gifts.
