Barbara Mary Petrille

In Loving Memory of Barbara M. Petrille Barbara Mary Petrille (Engelhart), of Kimberton, PA passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on February 17, 2021 at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania at the age of 83. Born on October 10, 1937 in Philadelphia, PA to John and Eleanor (Kenney) Engelhart. She met the love of her life, Joseph C. Petrille, Jr. at a school dance at St. Matthews when she was 15. The couple were married on February 23, 1957. As the receptionist at Devon Direct for many years, she was known for her friendly, gracious manner and her many lovely and perfectly coordinated outfits. Serving her community in a number of ways, she volunteered at the Phoenixville Hospital Thrift Shop and St Basil’s Church. Hers was a life filled with love, faith and joy. With her beloved husband Joseph, she raised seven wonderful children. Many remarked on her ability to maintain such an immaculate home with her abundant, happy family, and that she did so while providing a loving and welcoming home for family and friends. She was a kind and wise woman, often with a special sense and deep intuition about those she loved. She made people feel welcome and always shared her great love for her family with those she encountered. In addition to her children, she was regarded as Mom by other family and friends. Often sought out for her sage advice, she was ready to listen with a smile and hug. Always reminding everyone to go "Have fun.” She loved to travel and visited 17 foreign countries across four continents in her lifetime. Guided by her deep and abiding faith, of the many memorable trips, their visit to Israel and the site of the Sermon on the Mount was her favorite. Broadway shows, dinners out and shopping were among her pastimes, but she was happiest in the midst of huge, loving family gatherings. Surviving is her loving family including her husband of 64 years, Joseph C. Petrille Jr.; 2 sons, Joseph C. (Virginia) Petrille III and Mark (Nicole) Petrille; 4 daughters: Michele Bruno, Denise (Bruce) Olds, Lisa (Carl) Santoro and Barbara (Norman) Hanson; 17 grandchildren: Kimberly (Frank) Johnson, Kristopher (Rachel) Bruno, David Olds Jr., Katelyn (Ian Robinson) Petrille, Melissa (Anthony D’Annunzio) Santoro, Norman Hanson, Ashleigh (Nicholas) Vespaziani, Noel (Gary Major) Hanson, Carl Santoro, Barbie (Alex) Roese, John (Kailey Maniscalco) Hanson, Colin Petrille, Arianna Petrille, Joseph Santoro, Paige Petrille, Sophia Petrille and Ivana Hanson; 9 great-grandchildren: Naomi, Isaiah, Maria, Elijah, Gabriel, Logan, Tyler, Reed and Cedar; a brother, John "Jack" (Lillian) Engelhart; 2 sisters, Eleanor Heagy and Marybeth Kealey; and many other loving family members. She was preceded in death by a son, Gregory John Petrille; and a grandson, Ryan Alexander Petrille. Relatives & friends are invited to Barbara’s viewing at St. Basil the Great Church, 2300 Kimberton Rd., Kimberton, PA on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 from 10 to 11:15 am.
