Bertha E. “Bert” (Wargo) Makowiak passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at Pottstown Memorial Medical Center in Pottstown, PA. She was 87. Bert was a resident of Jeffersonville, Douglassville and most recently Lansdale. She was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church in Bridgeport, PA. Bert enjoyed playing the organ and singing, doing crossword puzzles, and tending to her garden. Most of all, she loved being a homemaker and mother. Born in Bridgeport, PA on July 17, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Anna (Lihota) Wargo. She was the wife of the late Ignatius Makowiak, who died in 1989. Surviving is her loving family including a daughter, Elaine R. Emes and her husband, Kevin, of Sinking Spring, PA; a son, James W. Geslak and his wife, Joann, of Westminster, MA; two grandchildren, David Rothermel and his significant other, Jennifer Hyneman, of West Reading, PA and Lisa Kaminskas and her husband, Matthew of Florida; a great-granddaughter, Charlie Rothermel; a brother, Thomas F. Wargo of Boyertown, PA; a sister, Anna Biscotti of Norristown, PA; close personal friend and former son-in-law, Randall Rothermel and his wife, Donna; and many other loving family members. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Walter Geslak; a sister, Pauline T. Makowiak; and two brothers, George and Stephen Wargo. Relatives and friends are invited to Bert’s Panakhyda Service at The Bacchi Funeral Home & Crematory, Ltd., 805 DeKalb St. (Rt. 202), Bridgeport, PA on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 11:00 am. Her viewing is Saturday from 10 to 10:50 am, at the funeral home. Interment will be in SS. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Cemetery, King of Prussia. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bert’s memory to SS. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, 519 Union Ave., Bridgeport, PA 19405.
