Camella Renee Chase

September 11, 1974 — October 6, 2021

Camella Renee Chase was born on September 11, 1974, youngest twin with Camille (who predeceased her in death), to Priscilla and Phillip Chase, Sr (who also predeceased her in death). She attended Upsal Day school in her younger years and would complete her education at Overbrook School for the Blind, receiving her HS diploma from John Bartram High School in 1996. Camella was affectionately known as “Ella.” However, to her mother, she was “Boop,” and they shared a special bond. Her childhood wasn’t the normal one due to her disability of vision, but that didn’t stop her from making herself known in the house. Ella knew her surroundings and could walk throughout without bumping into anything unless it was out of place. Ella loved open spaces. Her favorite sitting position was Indian Style while she sang or hummed. Ella, along with her sister, would sit on the couch and rock while listening to music. Her love of music would show in her voice even though she was not as verbal as the rest of her siblings. She would sing along to many songs, and she had her favorites, like “Do You Know Where You’re Going To,” which is the theme song from the movie Mahogany. Her voice, while she sang, was that of angelic nature. Her energy was positive and loving. Her will and strength gave her the chance to be who she was. Her way of communication was known by her actions, like taking you by the hand and leading to the kitchen if she wanted to eat or just walk with you. She would also let you know if she didn’t want to be bothered. Like pushing your hand away if she didn’t like the way it smelled. She was amazing in her own right! In passing, she leaves to cherish her memory: her mother, Priscilla Chase. Her sisters Glynis, Faith, Yolanda, and her brothers Philip, Jr., Marvin, and Steven. A host of Nieces and Nephews, all who loved her dearly, and a host of loving Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Camella’s viewing Friday, October 15th from 10-11 AM and Celebration of Life at 11 AM both at the Joseph J. McGoldrick Funeral Home, 507 West Ave. Jenkintown, PA 19046. We will miss her presence, but her spirit will continue to be part of us always! Until we meet again, farewell Camella Renee Chase.
