Carl Allen Buchenauer

Mr. Carl Allen Buchenauer died on March 3, 2015 in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania at the age of 89. Carl is survived by his wife of 66 years, Jennie; son Charles and his wife Mary Lou; daughter Carla Waldron and her husband Pete; and daughter Cris and her husband Justin Froehlich. He has four grandsons, Max, Sam, Luc, and Ike. Carl was born on January 17, 1926 in Lansdale, Pennsylvania to Charles Samuel and Caroline (Bauerly) Buchenauer. He graduated from Schwenksville High School in 1943 and then went to finance school while in the army. He served in the 82nd Airborne in Fort Bragg, during which time he “jumped out of many perfectly good airplanes.” He married Jennie in 1948 while in the army. After his army service Carl and Jennie returned to the area and Carl worked for Superior Tube, before joining Peoples Bank and then Commonwealth Federal Savings and Loan, where he spent the majority of his career, retiring in 1991. Carl was a 32nd Degree Mason. A member of St. Andrews Lutheran Church, he served as the church treasurer for many years. He was a member of the Kiwanis, and served as a Lieutenant Governor and president. He served the community as a Lower Providence Township Supervisor, and for a period of time served as chairman. He was a member of the board of the Lower Providence Sewer Authority. He was a long-time member of the Commercial Club. Carl volunteered at Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital for 20 years. A funeral is scheduled for Monday, March 9. A visitation will be held at 10 a.m., with a service at 11 a.m. The service will be held at St. Andrews Lutheran Church, 2725 Egypt Rd., Audubon, Pa and Pastor Mueller will officiate.
