Carmella Rose Mcguffin

Carmella Rose (DiFerdinando) McGuffin, 96 of Collegeville, Pa passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Phoenixville Hospice, Phoenixville, Pa in Chester County. Carmella was born in Norristown, PA., the daughter of the late Adelaide (Zippilli) and Luca DiFerdinando. She graduated from Norristown High School in 1941, and worked as an x-ray technician, first at Sacred Heart Hospital and then for Doctor Tompkins of West Main Street in Norristown, where she met her future husband in 1953. Working as a painter there he asked her for glass of water one hot summer day and she advised that she was unable to provide that for him. He responded that he could not believe he was unable to obtain one glass of water, ultimately, he got his water and the relationship began. They resided in Norristown until 1959 when they moved to their newly constructed home on Borton Road in Audubon. The family was a member of St. Teresa of Avila Church in Betzwood for many years. Carmella was very devoted to her faith and family and was dutiful in caring for her mom in her later years as well as her sister Josephine when she became ill. She was the wife of the late William J. McGuffin, whom she married in February 1955 and passed away in 1999. Carmella is survived by a son, Daniel, husband of Adele McGuffin, of Collegeville, PA. Carmella is also survived by her granddaughter Meghan McGuffin and grandson William McGuffin, both of Collegeville. In addition she is survived by her beloved sister Theresa Allocco of Ridgefield Connecticut and several nieces and nephews, and is preceded in death by sisters Mary (Paul) Mandracchia, Mary Ann (Joseph) Gelormo, and Josephine DiFerdinando. Visitation with family and friends will be held from 9:30 to 10:15 AM and a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, October 17th, 2018 at St. Eleanor Church at 701 Locust St. in Collegeville, PA 19426. Her interment will be at St. Patrick Cemetery in Norristown, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels, 1976 East High Street Pottstown, Pa 19464.
