Carmen C. "Pat" Griffo passed away peacefully on Friday, June 5, 2015 at Einstein Medical Center Montgomery in E. Norriton, PA. He was 88. Mr. Griffo was a resident of West Norriton, PA. He was employed for many years as a spot welder for Penco Products in Oaks, PA, as well as a projectionist for various movie theatres in the Norristown area. He was a great fan of vintage motion pictures. As a young man, he was nicknamed "Joe Brown" because of his resemblance to the comic Joe E. Brown. Carmen was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Norristown, PA. Carmen was a US Army veteran of WW II, serving in the 11th Airborne Division with the occupation forces in Japan. Born in Norristown, PA on September 20, 1926, he was a son of the late Carmen C. and Louise (Cantello) Griffo. He was married for over 56 years to his beloved wife, Mafalda A. (Gambone) Griffo, who passed away on January 21, 2015. Surviving is his loving family including two sons, Carmen J. Griffo and David M. Griffo of Norristown, PA; a brother, Samuel Griffo; brother-in-law, Salvatore Gambone and his wife, Jane; sisters-in-law, Pearl Ritrovato, Gilda Costanzo and Amelia Brodie; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas; and sisters, Delores Hartley, Anna Ronca and Esther Churgal.Relatives & friends are invited to Carmen's Funeral Mass at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 600 Hamilton St., Norristown, PA on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at 10:30 am. His viewing will be Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:20 am, at the church. Interment will be in St. Augustine Cemetery, King of Prussia, PA.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Carmen's memory to the Salvation Army, 533 Swede St., Norristown, PA 19401.
