Carol A. Delaney

Carol Ann Delaney, age 83 of West Norriton, a retired West Norriton School Crossing Guard died peacefully at home, Tuesday evening, October 14, 2014, surrounded by her loving family.  She was predeceased by her husband Richard. Born in Boston MA, she was the daughter of the late Nathan and Anna Rubin of Lowell, MA, and was the eldest of nine siblings. Carol was a certified Comptometrist for Shop ‘n Stop in Boston, where she met her husband Richard.  They were married for 59 years.   She recently retired after 36 years of service with West Norriton Township.  Carol is survived by her four children - Barbara Kirkpatrick of Jeffersonville, Bruce (Susan) Delaney of Jeffersonville, Debbie (Bruce) Brooks of Barto, and Teresa Delaney of Youngsville, NC.  In addition to her four children, her kind and gentle spirit will be sadly missed by the grandchildren, Christina, Stephanie, Geri (Asa), Michael, Kelly (Telly), Jacqueline, Heather (Nate), Jason (Joelle), Brianna, and 8 great grandchildren. As a long-time member of St. Teresa of Avila Parish, Carol was a member of the Church Choir, and various social groups.  Some of these included the St. Teresa’s Ladies Guild, Over 55 Club, Numerous Pinochle and Bridge Groups, the Heavenly Bodies Bowling League, The Audubon Lioness Club, as well a Girl Scout Leader.  Her memberships generated many life-long friendships.  She also enjoyed yearly summer vacations at Wildwood Crest with family and friends.   Relatives & friends may pay respects on Friday morning, October 17 from 8:50-9:50AM at St. Teresa of Avila Church located at 1260 S Trooper Rd, Norristown, PA 19403.  A funeral mass will follow at 10:00AM. Interment will be at St. Patrick's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to 'Elmwood Park Zoo’, 1661 Harding Blvd. Norristown, PA 19401.  Donations can be made online at http://www.elmwoodparkzoo.org.
