Carol Edith Granacker Marx passed away peacefully on Sunday January 13, 2019. She was surrounded by the love of her husband and children. Carol was born on the 4th of July in 1936 to Alice Reynolds Granacker and Raymond Parker Granacker. She grew up in the green hills and farmland of Hillsdale, NY. As a young woman starting out on her own, she moved to New York City to work in a hospital as a lab technician. There she met a medical student named Marvin Marx. They soon fell in love, married, and spent the next 60 years of their lives happily, lovingly together. For most of her life, Carol lived with Marvin in a pre-Revolutionary stone farmhouse in Lansdale raising five children and tending to her vast, beautiful flower gardens. She loved nature, was an avid cook, skier, tennis player, and a bridge life master. She went back to college in her fifties to study literature, earning her BA from Arcadia University. A passionate writer, she became a published author. Her most cherished moments were time spent with her husband, children and grandchildren. She is survived by members of her loving family including husband Dr. Marvin H. Marx, children Cynthia Burtt, Cedric Marx, Kimberly John, Wendy Jaffe, and Kristine Marx, grandchildren Nadine Grady, Justin Burtt, Anna Burtt, Lindsay John, Chelsea John, Taylor Jaffe, and Aaron Jaffe, and great grandchildren Patrick Grady and John Marvin Grady. Relatives and friends are invited to Carol’s Memorial Service at Brittany Pointe Estates, 1001 South Valley Forge Road, Lansdale, PA, 19446 on Saturday, January 26, 2019. Visitation is at 1 PM. The Memorial Service begins at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Carol’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.
