Catherine Marie Armstrong

Catherine Marie “Kitty” (Weyandt) Armstrong, passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at Einstein Hospital in East Norriton, PA. Born August 31, 1934 in Altoona, PA to the late Joseph B Weyandt and Catherine M (Quirin) Weyandt. She is also preceded in death by a son, James Dale Armstrong, Daughter, Liz (Armstrong) Pierson and brothers, Carl Weyandt and Joseph (Junie) Weyandt. Kitty is survived by her husband, H. Dale Armstrong married on April 5, 1954; Son, Daniel (and Jacqui) Armstrong, Harleysville, PA; Daughters, Teresa (and Douglas) Bates, Mountain Top, PA and Catherine Garber, Pittston, PA; 11 Grandchildren; 9 Great Grandchildren; Sister, Loretta (and Chuck Kuntz), Altoona, PA; Brother, Jim (and Faye) Weyandt, South Carolina and Sister-in-Law, Sue Weyandt, wife of the late Carl of Altoona, PA Family was always important to Kitty. Her mother died when she was 14 so she quit school to help take care of her siblings and father. In 1954 she married Dale Armstrong and they started their own family. She was a stay-at-home mom, taking care of their four children. As the children got older Kitty worked outside the home, but made sure she was home when they got off the bus. She was always ready to take the kids to their activities. Kitty didn’t stop at her own children, she adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren some of which she helped raise. As if all those were not enough, she loved being a babysitter for Joan and Leah. In her younger years, Kitty was a den mother for cub scouts and a softball coach. After Dale retired, they spent the winter in Ft. Meyers, FL where she began painting ceramics and giving them away as gifts. We want to thank all medical staff from Einstein Hospital, Meadowood, Mercy Health Care, The Cancer Center, and Suburban Community Hospital for the love and care she received, as well as the support they gave to Kitty’s family. Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. Saturday, December 17th followed by a funeral mass 10 a.m. at St. Teresa of Avila Church, 1260 S.
