Catherine Ruth Barone, Esq.

Catherine Ruth Gallagher Barone, Esq., 97, of Washington, DC, formerly of Dresher, PA, passed away on Thursday, August 23rd, 2018, peacefully at her residence. Catherine was born in Philadelphia, PA on June 16, 1921, the daughter of the late Catherine I. (Reeves) and John E. Gallagher, and she is sister of the late Claire Gallagher. She was a former member of St. Alphonsus Church in Maple Glen, PA. Catherine attended John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls’ High School in Philadelphia and graduated from Temple University in 1945, B.S. and the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1948, LL.B. and clerked for the Chief Justice of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, 1949-50. She was an Attorney at Law for 65 years, and she retired at age 92 on August 1, 2013. In addition to her private practice, she worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad and was a Deputy Attorney General for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania in the Tax Litigation Unit in Philadelphia for 12 years. She was the former wife of the late Anthony F.M. Barone, Esq. Catherine is survived by her loving son Anthony, husband of Carla, of Washington, DC; her two grandchildren Clara and Lucas, and her sister Nancy Leva and her brother Dr. John R. Gallagher, M.D. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. A public Viewing will be held 10 AM to 10:50 AM and her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM both on Thursday, August 30th, at St. Alphonsus Church, 33 Conwell Dr., Maple Glen, PA. Her Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
