Charles Steven Bernard

Charles Steven Bernard, of Philadelphia, PA, passed away on Monday, July 27, 2026, at Cura Living in East Norriton, PA. He was 88 years old.

Born on March 25, 1938, in Philadelphia, PA, Charles was a son of the late Charles B. and Mary (Kass) Bernard. He was the beloved husband of Carole Anne (Schock) Bernard.

Charles earned his Associate’s Degree from Temple University and went on to work as an electrical draftsman.

A man with a curious mind and a deep appreciation for history, Charles especially enjoyed learning about Philadelphia’s rich colonial past. He could often be found reading the newspaper or one of his favorite magazines, working on a crossword puzzle, or enjoying an old classic movie on Turner Classic Movies. He particularly loved classic Westerns, including those starring Randolph Scott. Charles also enjoyed woodworking and took great pleasure in creating things with his hands.

In addition to his wife, Carole, Charles is survived by his son, Steven Bernard (Clayton Collier); daughter, Joanne Owens; granddaughters, Kelly Owens and Kristen Owens; great-granddaughter, Kora Schuster; and sister, Helene Peterson.

Charles was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Richard “Rick” Owens, and brother-in-law, Alan Peterson.

Services and interment will be private for the family.
