Charles E. Smith, 84, of Roslyn passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 29th at Abington Memorial Hospital. He was born on October 9, 1931 in Conshohocken to Joseph W. and Anna Marie (George). He graduated from St. Matthews High School. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Navy as a corpsman and was attached to the 4th Marine division in the Korean War. After returning home from the service he worked at Quaker Chemical for 35 years before retiring. After retiring he remained active working at Napa Auto Parts and pursuing his hobbies building model boats and planes and was a talented woodworker. He enjoyed spending many summers at the Jersey Shore with his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Elizabeth (McLaughlin) and was a devoted father to his daughters Karen McKenna of Warminster (Bill) and Barb Cavanaugh of Naples FL (Craig), his niece Marguerite Estis (Joe) and great nephew Joseph. He was a grandfather (pop) to Jennifer McKenna, and Christine McLaughlin (Bernie) and his precious cat Chloe. He was preceded in death by a brother Joseph, and a sister Mary Jane. He will be sadly missed by his loving family and friends. Charles was a patient man whose family meant the world to him, he loved to laugh and always had a smile for everyone and those memories will be forever in our hearts. Family will greet relatives and friends on Monday January 4, 2016 from 10-10:55 AM and celebrate his Funeral Mass at 11 AM at St. John of the Cross Church 2741 Woodland Rd. Roslyn, PA 19001. His interment will be held at Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown, PA at 2pm.
