Charles E. Hammer, 90, of Ambler, PA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at Spring House Estates.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, on November 16, 1934, Charles (Charlie) was the beloved son of the late Marian (Aust) and James Thompson Hammer. He was the devoted husband of the late Patricia (Power), with whom he shared many loving years.
Charlie dedicated his career as an electrician at the Local 98 IBEW, where he was known for his skill, dedication, and unwavering work ethic. His contributions to his field and his commitment to his colleagues left a lasting impact.
Beyond his professional life, Charlie was a loving and supportive father. He truly loved all sports and dedicated much of his time as a coach for Horsham Little League Baseball, Horsham Hawks Football and Horsham Hoops Basketball. He is survived by his daughter, Susan Noel (Don); and his two sons, Scott Hammer (Joan) and Craig Hammer (Patti); 5 grandchildren: Megan Lee (Jason), Ryan Noel, Kelly Davies (Chad), Danny Hammer, and Jimmy (Annie) Hammer: and three great grandchildren: Hunter, Lily and Madison.
Charlie’s favorite pastime was going to car shows, both local and national. He was a member of the National Street Rod Association (NSRA). He was in his happy place with his car buddies at Macungie and York or at the dining room table mapping out his next car adventure. His love of street rods earned him the nickname “Hot Rod Charlie” to all who knew him.
