Charles R. "Chick" Handwerk passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at his residence in Bridgeport, PA. He was 70. Mr. Handwerk worked as a truck driver for the former National Rolling Mills in Great Valley, PA. Chick was a life member of the Goodwill Fire Co. and a social member of the Bridgeport Fire Co. #1 and the Swedesburg Fire Co. Mr. Handwerk was a US Navy veteran, serving from 1957 to 1961 aboard the USS Pyro. He was awarded the Middle East Service Ribbon.Born in Kutztown, PA on April 17, 1939, he was a son of the late Charles and Beatrice (Reppett) Handwerk. Surviving are his loving family including two brothers, Alton Handwerk and his wife, Barbara of Norristown, PA and Ronald Handwerk and his wife, Laureen of Bethlehem, PA; a half-sister, Sylvia Bailey and her husband, Chris of Topton, PA; and many nephews and nieces, His goddaughter Amanda Moletzsky and dear friends, John and Lisa Moletzsky. Relatives and friends are invited to his Memorial Service at The Bacchi-Courtney Funeral Home & Crematory, Ltd., 805 DeKalb St. (Rt. 202), Bridgeport, PA 19405 on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at 7:00PM Interment in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, Lebanon County, PA on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at 1:00pm.
