Charles Landis Reeder

Charles Landis Reeder peacefully passed away in his sleep on January 13, 2016, at the ripe old age of 90. A former resident of Havertown, PA, Charles resided at the time of his death at Columbia Cottage in Collegeville, PA. His children miss him dreadfully. Our father was born in Philadelphia on May 6, 1925. He served in the Army during WWII in North Africa and at the Battle of Anzio in Italy. After the war, he married our mother, Nancy Isabel Barrett, who predeceased him in 1994. Our dad was an exceptional artist and served as President of the Philadelphia Sketch Club, America’s oldest club for artists. He initially went to college on the GI Bill and continued his education through to a Masters +60. Charles taught art in the Upper Darby School District in both the junior- and senior high schools. He is survived by his kids – that’s us – Janice Ellen Reeder-Highleyman and Stephen Charles Reeder, his cherished sister Lois McLatchie, and numerous loving in-laws, nieces and nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, January 20, 2016, at the Szpindor-Meyers Funeral Home, 101 N. Park Ave., (Rt. 363 Trooper) Norristown, PA.  Family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m.   A private family burial will follow. In lieu of flowers or donations, we ask that family, friends and acquaintances offer a silent prayer that our dad now safely is in the arms of his parents, wife, and brother.    Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, January 20, 2016, at the Szpindor-Meyers Funeral Home, 101 N. Park Ave., (Rt. 363 Trooper) Norristown, PA.  Family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m.   A private family burial will follow.
