Charles C. Sarabun

Charles C. "Chuck" Sarabun, retired Lieutenant Colonel, USAF, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 24, 2009, surrounded by his loving family at Brinton Manor Nursing Home in Glen Mills, PA. He was 86. Mr. Sarabun was a resident of Glen Mills, PA and was formerly of King of Prussia, PA. He worked as an operations manager for SS Fretz Corp. in Philadelphia, PA. He was a member of Upper Merion Baptist Church, King of Prussia, PA and the Bridgeport-Upper Merion Lions Club. Mr. Sarabun was a US Air Force veteran of WW II, serving in the 100th Bomb Group of the Army Corps of Engineers. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps after Pearl Harbor and retired in 1961 from the Air Force. He was a navigator of the Piccadilly Lily, which was shot down on October 8, 1943 and he became a prisoner of war for 1½ years in Germany.Born in Bridgeport, PA on April 13, 1922, he was a son of the late Luka and Kathryn (Horodniczka) Sarabun. Surviving are his loving family including his wife of 64 years, Eleanor Louise (Kutz) Sarabun; a son, Dr. Charles C. Sarabun, Jr. and his wife, Sharon of Columbia, MD; two daughters, Dr. Carol A. Sarabun and her husband, Paul Bacco of Wilton, Conn and Barbara A. Conan of Glen Mills, PA; 3 grandchildren: Meghan, Jennifer & Matthew; 2 great-grandchildren, Anthony & Paige; a sister, Vera Kordek of Bridgeport PA; and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Mary Shewchuk and Madge Kwasin. Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Service at Upper Merion Baptist Church, 585 General Steuben Rd., King of Prussia, PA on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 10:30am. Officiating will be the Rev. Marcia Ricketts, Interim Pastor. His viewing is Saturday morning from 9 to 10:20am, at the church. Interment in Valley Forge Memorial Gardens, King of Prussia, PA.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Upper Merion Baptist Church, 585 General Steuben Rd., King of Prussia, PA 19406.Arrangements are by The Bacchi-Courtney Funeral Home & Crematory, Ltd., Bridgeport, PA. www.bacchicourtney.com
