Charles D. Schrack

Charles D. Schrack passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at Rittenhouse Pine Center in Norristown, PA. He was 90. Mr. Schrack was a life-long resident of Bridgeport, PA. He worked as a machinist and millwright for the former McCarter Corp. of Norristown, PA for 38 years, until his retirement in 1984. He was a graduate of the former Bridgeport High School, Class of 1939, and a past president of the former Bridgeport High School Board. Charles was involved with the development of the Montgomery County VoTech School. He was also a past commander of the VFW Post 1804 Nuss-O'Hara Todd in Norristown, PA and a past president of the Bridgeport Senior Citizens Group. Mr. Schrack was a US Army Air Corps veteran of WW II, serving as a Technical Sergeant from 1942 to 1945 in the 334th Bombardment Squadron. He was in the European Theatre of Operations and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with 3 oak leaf clusters, Distinguished Unit Badge, American Theater Service Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars and a Good Conduct Medal.Born in Norristown, PA on June 17, 1921, he was a son of the late John and Janet (Dever) Schrack. He was the husband of the late Ruth M. (Schlosman) Schrack, who died in June of 2010. Surviving is his loving family including two sons, Charles D. Schrack and his companion, Judymarie E. Gallela of E. Norriton, PA and Robert L. Schrack of Woodbridge, VA; a sister, Mildred McGettigan of Eagleville, PA; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers, John, Wilford, Ronald & Earl Schrack. Relatives & friends are invited to his Prayer Service at The Bacchi Funeral Home and Crematory, Ltd., 805 DeKalb St. (Rt. 2902), Bridgeport, PA 19405 on Monday, September 19, 2011 at 10:00am. His viewing will be Monday morning from 9 to 9:50am, at the funeral home.
