Charles G. Thompson passed away on Friday, October 14, 2011 at The Jefferson Hospital of Neuroscience in Philadelphia, PA. He was 57. Charles was a long-time resident of Paoli, PA. He was a retired cook who worked at local restaurants in the area for many years. Charles loved technology, his bunnies and his family. Mr. Thompson was a Vietnam War veteran, serving aboard the USS Ranger. He performed duties as a crash and salvage crewman during aircraft crashes, fires and rescue operations. On the flight deck, he also installed and removed aircraft chocks, chains and towbars during aircraft operations.Born in Philadelphia, PA on August 16, 1954, he was the son of Harvey G. Thompson of West Grove, PA and Madeline (Brown) of Westfield, MA. Surviving is his loving family including his parents; his wife, Lyn (Rosenbaum) Thompson; a son, Charles G. Thompson, Jr. of Paoli, PA; two brothers, Howard Martin and Billy Keyes; two sisters, Diane Smith and Sheri Martin; two half-brothers, Steve and Robert Miller; and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by a sister, Susan. Charles' funeral service and internment will be private at the request of the family.
