Charles Edward Webb, a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away on March 13, 2021 after an illness of dementia and Parkinson’s Disease. Chuck, as he was known to family and friends, was born in Williamson, West Virginia to John and Effie (Hall) Webb. He attended Lenore High School, graduating in 1967. From there he took a bus to Chicago, Ill to explore the country only to be drafted into the Army. There a Gunny Sargeant told him “son, join the US Marine Corp where everyday is a holiday and every meals a banquet.” Chuck was still looking for that guy many years later! He proudly served his country in the USMC from 1967 to 1969. After basic training he was sent to Vietnam during the Tet Mau General Offensive Uprising of 1968. Chuck earned the rank of Lance Corporal E3 while serving as Pointman for his unit, 1st Marine Division, 4th Engineer Company FMF. USMC, 2 tours. While serving in Vietnam he received the following: Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Meritorions Mast, Marksmanship Rifle Badge and Good Conduct Medal. He also served in the Marine Corps Reserve Training Center for 4 years at Camp Lejeune. After his time in Vietnam, Chuck resumed his education under the GI Bill at the University of West Virginia, earning an Associate’s Degree in Business Management. He worked in hotel management for a few years. Later Chuck headed east for a new career in the automobile business. Upon settling in Montgomery County he worked for the former Norristown Ford, John Kennedy Ford in Phoenixville, John Kennedy Ford in Pottstown and Sheehy Auto Store in Philadelphia. His wife and love of his life, Cathleen Brennan Wlock Webb, shared 24 wonderful years together. They vacationed in their favorite places, Mexico and the New Jersey shore, and they took many trips to the Crab Trap Restaurant for his favorite, Clams Casino. Chuck favorite hobby was taking fishing trips with his boat to Canada to catch the big ones on the Saint Lawrence River in Alexander Bay. His favorite game was bocce at the Bridgeport Courts, where he sat on the Board of Directors for a few years before his illness. Chuck always had a smile, a hand shake, and a funny joke to send you on your way. He was a true southern gentleman. Chuck enjoyed his children: Angela Webb Rallidis and her husband, Mike, and his pride and joy grandson, Michael Rallidis; son, Charles and his wife, Nicole and her children, Felicia and Jake; and daughter, Marie Gibbons Webb and her mother, Margie Gibbons. Step-children are: Tina Brennan West, her husband, Jeff and their children, Jacob and Leah, Edward Brennan and his children, Jesse and Alyssa. Also survived by brother, Gary Sheppard his wife, Phyllis and children, Bryan and Michael Scott; sister, Bessie Mae Sheppard Neuman and her children, Norma, Joyce and Patricia; sister-in-law, Genevieve Johnson Webb and children, John and Bryana; nephews: Rob and wife, Melissa, Wayne and wife, Laura and their daughter, Yessivia, Jim and wife, Kim and children, Imanuall, Micah and Elizabella; niece, Kimberly Rhoads; great-nephew, Myles Gambel. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Luther Sheppard, his wife, Violet and daughter, Cindy; brother, Garcia Lee Webb; nephew, Brett Sheppard; and brother-in-law, Lyod Neuman. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date to be announced by the family. Chuck will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery.
