The Lord called Charles Wright, Sr. home to rest on Tuesday morning, July 22, 2014.Charles was born the third child of the late Mary Smith and Charles Wright. His brother, Joseph Wright, predeceased him. He was born in Cedar Hollow, Devault, PA on March 20, 1930. When he was very young, the family relocated to Norristown. He attended Norristown High School. Charles served in the U.S. Army during World War II, participating in the reconstruction of Japan. He was a life member of the Norristown Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 3384, serving as Marshal, Public Relations Chairman, Publicity Agent and Commander.Charles was a former member of Mt. Zion AME Church. In his later years, he became a Seventh Day Adventist. He worked for Kaiser as a research analyst and ended his career on the staff of Roosevelt High School in King of Prussia, PA.Left to cherish his memory are: his wife, Eleanor; a sister, Daisy Braddy of Irvington, NJ; two daughters, Charlene Thomas King (John) of Willow Grove, PA and Esther Johnson of Philadelphia, PA; a son, Charles Wright Jr. (Gloria) of Philadelphia, PA; four grand-children: Angelo Wright of Seattle, WA, Jared Thomas of Willow Grove, PA, Gina Lafaye Hudson of Germantown, PA, and Dorian Nathaniel Hudson of Philadelphia, PA; two nephews, Carl Braddy and Manuel Martin Braddy of Irvington, NJ; ten great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.The family of Charles Wright wishes to express sincere gratitude and appreciation to our relatives, church family, neighbors, co-workers, Brandywine Hall and Manor Care staff for the numerous expressions of love, support and kindness shown before and during our bereavement.
