Charlotte E. (Michener) Bean

Charlotte E. (Michener) Bean died peacefully on Saturday, August 10, 2013 surrounded by her loving family at Neighborhood VNA Inpatient Hospice in West Chester, Pa. She was 93. Mrs. Bean was a resident of King of Prussia, Pa. She worked for 35 years as a school teacher for the Upper Merion Area School District. Mrs. Bean was a life-long member of Upper Merion Baptist Church in King of Prussia, Pa., having served in a number of positions of responsibility. In addition, she was a long-time volunteer for Meals on Wheels and a member of the King of Prussia Historical Society. She loved playing cards with her beloved "shortsheeters" group.Born in Upper Merion Township, Pa. on July 27, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Charles A. and Cora (Kirchner) Michener. She was the wife of James H. Bean, who died in 1996. Surviving are her family members: two sons, Robert F. Bean and his wife, Kathleen, of Littlestown, Pa., and Ronald J. Bean and his wife, Melinda, of Albuquerque, N.M.; two daughters, Sharyn E. Bearse of Devon, Pa., and Marilyn Rogers of King of Prussia, Pa.; three nephews, John Schatz and his wife, Susan, of Trappe, Pa., Paul Schatz of Bloomsburg, Pa., and Paul Michener and his wife, Lee Ann, of Phoenixville, Pa.; a niece, Jill Exeley and her husband, Mark, of Chester Springs, Pa.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, C. Paul Michener of Pottstown, Pa. She was preceded in death by a sister, Thelma Schatz, and a nephew, Timothy Michener.Relatives and friends are invited to Mrs. Bean's Funeral Service at Upper Merion Baptist Church, 585 General Steuben Road, King of Prussia, Pa. on Friday, August 16, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Kathryn Eagles, Pastor. Mrs. Bean's viewing will be Friday from 10:00 to 10:50, at the church. Interment will be private at the request of the family.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Upper Merion Baptist Church, 585 General Steuben Road, King of Prussia, Pa. 19406 and/or Neighborhood Hospice, 400 E.
