Christian W. Matthews, Jr.

Christian W. Matthews, Jr. passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 12, 2014 at Phoenixville Hospital in Phoenixville, PA. He was 94. Mr. Matthews was a resident of King of Prussia, PA. He worked as a civil engineer in his own consulting firm in Littleton, CO and was a Vice-president for the former C-E Minerals in King of Prussia, PA. Christian was a member of Asbury Methodist Church in Norristown, PA.Christian was a US Army veteran of WW II, serving from 1944 to 1945.Born in Brooklyn, NY on April 6, 1920, he was a son of the late Christian W. Matthews, Sr. and May (Brown) Matthews. Surviving is his loving family including his wife, Mary Alice (Carter) Hallman-Matthews; a son, Christian W. & Carol Matthews, III of Denver, CO; two daughters, Erica R. Matthews of Denver, CO and Barbara A. & Diego Ceron of Aurora, CO; a step-son, Randy R. & Carole Hallman of Ottsville, PA; a step-daughter, Deborah S. Hallman of Bridgeport, PA; four granddaughters: Gretchen, Courtney May, Melissa & Ashley; and many other loving family members. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Matthews; and by his former wife, Catherine R. Matthews.Christian's Memorial Service will be held at The Bacchi Funeral Home and Crematory, Ltd., 805 DeKalb St. (Rt. 202) Bridgeport, PA 19405 on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 1:00 pm. The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday from 12 to 12:50 pm, at the funeral home.
