Christianna “Chris” Sweeney Bell passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at the Dock Woods Community in Lansdale. She was 92. Chris was born on January 25, 1930, in Margate, NJ to Christianna Humphreys and George E. Sweeney. She attended Atlantic City High School and Katherine Gibbs School. For more than 60 years, she lived in Jenkintown with her husband, the late William R. Bell, and raised their three children. For many years she also worked as a secretary for the Jenkintown School District where she loved connecting with students, parents, faculty, school staff and administration. Chris always described herself as a “people person”. She touched the lives of people from all walks of life. She loved keeping up with her many friends and sending birthday cards to all. She was a member of the Jenkintown United Methodist Church and also served the Jenkintown community through years of involvement with the Jenkintown Youth Activities, the PTA fairs each May, Jenkintown United Methodist Pre-school (JUMP) and other community organizations. She loved watching Jenkintown from her front porch on Walnut Street and later her balcony at Beaver Hill. She is survived by her children Janie “CJ” Lyford (Fred Buck), Bob Lyford and Andy Bell (Tena). She was devoted to her 5 grandchildren Tianna Buck, Sarah Bell Linde (Cooper), Hannah Bell Geesey (Daniel), Robert Lyford and Amy Lyford Stough (James), and her 8 great grandchildren. Friends and family are invited to attend a Visitation from 5 pm to 8 pm on Friday, March 18th at Joseph J. McGoldrick Funeral Home, 507 West Ave., Jenkintown, PA 19046. A Celebration of Life service will take place at 4 pm on Saturday, March 19th at the Jenkintown United Methodist Church, 328 Summit Ave., Jenkintown, 19046. Internment is private.
