Claire Cleola (Hogentogler) Pipp passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Parkhouse Providence Pointe in Royersford, PA. She was 96. Claire grew up in Lemoyne and was a graduate of Lemoyne High School, Class of 1933 and married Harry "Ted" Pipp in October of 1933. She was the great-granddaughter of General Joseph Knipe, who defended Harrisburg during the Civil War.Claire lived in Maspeth, NY over 43 years and worked for the NY Board of Education. She was active in AARP and her church while teaching children at Cheryl's deaf church. After retiring, she and Ted traveled through the US, Hawaii and Europe. She also enjoyed oil painting, sharing them with family and friends. She was known for her caring and generous nature and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Mrs. Pipp was born in Harrisburg, PA on March 29, 1915, a daughter of the late Ralph H. and May A. (Repman) Hogentogler. She was the wife of the late Harry W. Pipp, who died in 1986. Surviving is her loving family including 3 daughters: Gayle Stayton of King of Prussia, PA, Joyce Natalie of Acworth, GA and Cheryl Mortensen and her husband, Kenneth of Rosedale, NY; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Carole E. Seeman; a brother, Ralph H. Hogentogler; and 2 sisters, Dorothy M. Stengle and Betty E. Boughter. Funeral services and interment will be private at the request of the family.
