Constance L. Mellody

Constance L. (Cortis) Mellody passed away peacefully at her residence on Sunday, December 20, 2015. She was 80 years old. Mrs. Mellody was a resident of Wayne, PA. She worked as an elementary school teacher for the Upper Merion School District for many years. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, which is dedicated to the advancement of women educators. Constance was a member of Mother of Divine Providence Church in King of Prussia, PA. She was a nun with the Immaculate Heart of Mary for fifteen years. When her husband became ill, she spent most of her time attending to him at Arden Courts in King of Prussia, PA and over time became a valuable asset to the residents and staff, befriending many of them. Born in Baltimore, MD on May 10, 1935, she was a daughter of the late John A. and Lucy M. (Ruggiero) Cortis. Surviving is her loving family including her daughter, Constance M. Mellody of Wayne, PA, and a brother, Jack (Susan) Cortis of Orinda, CA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Mellody, her daughter Sharon Mellody, and her sister, Mary Theresa Shaw. Relatives and friends are invited to Constance’s Funeral Mass at Mother of Divine Providence Church, 333 Allendale Road, King of Prussia, PA on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at 10:30 am.
