Dardj George Amarhanov Dardj George Amarhanov, 66, of Philadelphia, PA passed away suddenly on Tuesday, January 28th, 2020 at his residence. Dardj was born in Philadelphia, PA on February 5, 1953, a son of the late Gema (Djugninov) and Banko Amarhanov. He is predeceased in death by his brother John Amarhanov, and his children’s mother, Patricia McDermott. George is survived by his two children, Angela and George. Dardja, as what his parents called him, faced the many obstacles that first generation children of immigrants often experience. But George loved Philadelphia and worked various painting and construction jobs throughout the city. After a devastating accident, where he was hit by a drunk driver and left physically disabled, he remained resourceful and the familiar face on the block. He will be remembered for his never ending love for his kids—Angie and George, “Sug.” Services are private at the convenience of family and have been entrusted to the Joseph J. McGoldrick Funeral Home.
