Dolores “Dee” Marlene (Forepaugh) Hoffman passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 8, 2015, surrounded by her loving family at her residence in King of Prussia, PA, after a long battle with lung cancer. She was 83. Mrs. Hoffman was a graduate of Ambler High School. She retired from ARA Mark but had previously worked for Howard Johnson’s, the Peacock Inn, the Bull Tavern and the Tally Ho Resort. In 1955, she and her new husband joined the early residents of the soon-to-be suburban hub of King of Prussia. After retiring, she took to traveling, having visited Alaska, the British Isles, and went cross-country RVing with a daughter and son-in-law. Dee also internationally visited Italy, Greece, Spain, China and many locations throughout the US with friends. Dee enjoyed reading, had fun playing cards, Shanghai and Mah Jongg with her friends, and she loved watching the birds at the feeders in her yard. She was a long-time member of Mother of Divine Providence Church in King of Prussia, the Women’s Club, the 59ers, and Upper Merion Senior Center. She also worked with the soup kitchen at St. John’s in Norristown and Meals on Wheels. Dee was active with the girl and boy scouts when her children were younger and volunteered at the school her children attended. Dee was born on May 18, 1932 in Norristown, PA and grew up in North Wales, PA. She was a daughter of the late William and Clara Jean (Barr) Forepaugh and was the wife of the late Charles Martin “Marty” Hoffman, who died in 1999. Surviving is her loving family including a son, Charles William (Dawn) Hoffman of Conshohocken, PA; four daughters: Patricia Hoffman (Lyle Polley) of King of Prussia, PA, Regina (Ron) Roberts of Mountaintop, PA, Catherine Palmer of King of Prussia, PA and Theresa (Greg) Hoffman-Lare of Norristown, PA; 13 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara (David) Lloyd and Linda (George-deceased) Wisz; and many other loving family members. Relatives & friends may attend Dee’s viewing at The Bacchi Funeral Home and Crematory, Ltd., 805 DeKalb St. (Rt. 202), Bridgeport, PA on Sunday, October 11, 2015 from 6 to 8:00 pm. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Mother of Divine Providence Church, 333 Allendale Rd., King of Prussia, PA on Monday, October 12, 2015 at 11:30 am. Her Interment will be in Valley Forge Memorial Gardens, King of Prussia, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dee’s memory to Einstein Montgomery Hospice, 1330 Powell St., Suite 100, Norristown, PA 19401.
