Dolores A. Volm

On June 10, 2020, Dolores Alma Volm, age 90, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Dolores was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Noel Anton Volm. Her family grieves her loss, but takes comfort knowing that Noel and Dolores are united again in heaven. Dolores was the proud mother of sixteen children: Alma (nee Volm) and Joe McGoldrick, Carol (nee Volm) and Ray Shannon, Joanne and Greg Volm, Chrissy (nee Volm) and John Niziolek, Grace and Gary Volm, Linda (nee Volm) and Mike Hiller, Joanne and Gerry Volm, Michele and Jeff Volm, Patty (nee Volm) and Sean Stikelman, Cheryl Volm, Maria (nee Volm) and Pat Day, Christine and Eric Volm, Deb and Kirk Volm, Michelle (nee Volm) and Jerry Albrecht, Brittany and Keith Volm, Lisa and Michael Volm She is also survived by 44 loving grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. Her loss is also grieved by her companion of over 20 years, Paul Steinke. Dolores was born and raised in Philadelphia, where she attended Little Flower High School. She spent many years attending the Mummers Parades as a child with her mother and father. She especially grew fond of the Quaker City band. Dolores worked as a nurses aide at Holy Redeemer Hospital for over 30 years. She then worked preparing meals for the priests at both St. Joseph and Mary Mother of the Redeemer parishes. She also provided in-home personal care for elderly patients. While her brood was large in number, Dolores always had time for everyone and made each person feel loved and special. Her strong and compassionate spirit solidified her role as the matriarch of a loving and close family. Dolores was a devout Catholic and made it a point to share her faith with her family and friends. Dolores loved to dance, read, socialize, watch sports, and spend time with family and friends. She was also a very enthusiastic fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers. Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral mass Saturday, June 27th at 10 AM at Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Catholic Church 1325 Upper State Rd., North Wales, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Little Flower High School 1000 W Lycoming St, Philadelphia, PA 19140. Services entrusted to the Joseph J. McGoldrick Funeral Home.
