Donald Edward Burgess

Donald Edward Burgess passed away peacefully on Friday, September 29, 2023 at his residence in King of Prussia, PA. He was 72. Donald served in the United States Army and was stationed in South Korea during the Vietnam Era. After that, he worked for Upper Merion Township for 32 years, retiring as a Project Coordinator in 2011. Donald was a member of the VFW Post 7878 in King of Prussia. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and truly loved the outdoors. Donald was also a dedicated Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan.

Born in Bryn Mawr, PA on July 30, 1951, he was a son of the late Alexander Granger and Pearl Hanna (Bingaman) Burgess. Donald was the beloved husband of Dolores Marie (Houppert) Burgess for 48 years.

In addition to his wife, Donald is survived by his son, Alexander Burgess; daughter, Kelly Kasza and her husband, Michael; 2 granddaughters, Kylie and Kelsey; brother, John Burgess; sister, Joan Flynn; one nephew; and three nieces.

Donald is preceded in death by a brother, Alexander “Butch” Burgess, Jr.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Donald’s viewing at The Bacchi Funeral Home & Crematory, 805 DeKalb St. Bridgeport, PA 19405 on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 from 10-10:45am, with his service starting at 11:00am. Interment will be private for the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Donald’s memory to the VFW at heroes.vfw.org or to BrightSpring Hospice Foundation, 805 N. Wittington Parkway Louisville, KY 40222.
