Donald M Jacobs

On June 20, 2022, Donald M Jacobs, died peacefully of natural causes, surrounded by his family, at Paoli Memorial Hospital. He was 88. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Frances (Walden) Jacobs; children Jerome J. Jacobs and wife Julia A. Jacobs, Philadelphia, PA, Richard A. Jacobs, Mishawaka, IN, Debby Jacobs, Bryn Mawr, PA; granddaughter Andrea (Jacobs) Croston and husband Eric Croston, Philadelphia, PA; great-grandson Oliver Croston, and cousin Marjorie Schector, Boca Raton, FL. Donald was born July 28,1933 in New York City. He graduated from Horace Mann High School, New York City and Cornell University with a degree in Hotel Management in 1955. Donald and Frances were married on January 24, 1956 and resided at Shannondell in Audubon, PA since 2011. After graduation, Donald served in the Army from 1955 to 1957. He then held numerous management positions in the food service industry. He became the Director of Dining Services for the University of Pennsylvania, retiring in 1998 after more than 23 years of distinguished service. Mr. Jacobs was most proud of becoming President of the industry trade group, the National Association of College and University Food Services (NACUFS). Among other honors, he received the International Food Service Manufacturers Association Silver Plate award. Donald successfully trained and mentored many managers that had distinguished careers in the food service industry. Donald was an exceptionally good cook, known for hosting the best parties. He lived an active life, dedicated to exercise and fitness. He was a lifelong supporter of programs that improve the lives of those with physical and intellectual disabilities.
