Donna J. Sharrar passed away on Friday, April 3rd, peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by her loving family. She was 89 years old. A graduate of Altoona High School, Donna carried her strong family values and warm spirit throughout her life. She married the love of her life, Walter B Sharrar, on September 10th, 1959, and together they shared more than 50 years of marriage filled with love, adventure, and lasting memories. Donna and Walt enjoyed traveling together, visiting all 50 states. She cherished their time in Titusville, Florida, where Walt worked on the Apollo space program that sent a man to the moon in 1969, before settling in King of Prussia, PA. Donna was known for her generous, loving spirit throughout her life. She valued her family and was devoted to them, including spending as much time as she could with her grandchildren. She was an avid gardener, a lover of reading and stories, a talented cook and host, and she enjoyed playing bridge with friends. Her homemade jams and jellies were a favorite among family and friends. She was also a longtime member of the Covered Bridge Garden Club.
Born Donna Josephine Kopp in Altoona, PA, on May 24th, 1936, she was the daughter of Donald J. Kopp and Josephine (Fischer) Kopp.
Surviving is her loving family including two daughters, Donna J. Venable and her husband, Dean of King of Prussia, PA and Colleen R. Bornstad and her husband, Randall of Collegeville, PA; her son Walter B. Sharrar II of Sanatoga, PA; and four grandchildren: Patrick Venable, Erin Venable and her husband Daniel Keating, Tyler Bornstad and his wife Madeline Bornstad and Connor Bornstad as well as several nieces and nephews.
Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Walter B. Sharrar, and her siblings, Patricia A. Steinbeiser and William N. Kopp.
She will be remembered for her loving heart, adventurous spirit, and deep devotion to her family. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
