Doris D. (Maffei) Dean-Bird

Doris D. (Maffei) Dean-Bird passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Abington Health Lansdale Hospital in Lansdale, PA. She was 86. Mrs. Dean-Bird was a resident of Harleysville, PA and was formerly of King of Prussia, PA. She worked as a machine operator for Crown Cork Seal in Philadelphia, PA. She was a member of St. Augustine R.C. Church in Bridgeport, PA. Born in Philadelphia, PA on February 15, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Sarah J. (Smith) Maffei. She was the wife of the late George R. Bird, who died in 2001, and the late Howard H. Dean, who died in 1968. Surviving is her loving family including a son, Ronald H. Dean of Harleysville, PA; three grandchildren: Adam Dean and his wife, Janet, Eric R. Dean and Sarah E. Dean; six great-grandchildren: Amanda Joy, Alexander, Andrew, Annalise, Jordan and Adalyn; a sister, Cecelia Petrecz of King of Prussia, PA; and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Anthony Joseph Dean. Doris' Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Augustine R.C. Church, 464 Ford St., Bridgeport, PA on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at 11:00 am. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday morning from 10 to 10:50 am, at the church.
