DOUGLAS MCWHIRTER MOORE
November 30, 1976-September 2, 2023
Your life was a blessing. Your memory is a treasure.
The family grieves the death of Douglas McWhirter Moore, who departed this world on the evening of September 2, 2023. Our beloved Doug will be buried in the Ancient Yard of St. David’s Churchyard, Wayne, PA, alongside his second great-great grandparents, in a private service.
Doug was born in Bryn Mawr, PA. He graduated from Upper Merion High School in 1995. He graduated from Villanova University in 1999, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
Doug always wanted to understand what his father did for a living, so he went to work as well for Lockheed Martin in Valley Forge. Doug exceled at his job and went through his company’s Technical Development Curriculum, Engineering Leadership and Development Program in 2002 and received a Masters of Information Science from Pennsylvania State University in 2002. Later he chose a foreign assignment in England for four years. It was there he met his future wife, Erin Rothlisberger, who was also on foreign assignment with Lockheed Martin’s Colorado division.
Upon returning to the states, Doug headed west to join Erin in Colorado, where they continued working for Lockheed Martin. This husband and wife team bought a small farm raising chickens, turkeys, ducks, geese and two great Danes. Erin enjoyed farming: Doug engineered the placement and irrigation of several large gardens of vegetables and herbs, while Erin did all the planning and planting.
Doug had developed a passion for regenerative agriculture. He was always researching ways
to improve the soil, to make it more productive, from simple crop rotation to fortifying the soil. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution in his name to the Soil Health Institute (https://soilhealthinstitute.org/), or to a charity of your choice.
