Noelle A. Rotondo, DO, FACEP, 46, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Monday, May 5, 2014 at her residence after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on December 6, 1967 in Bridgeport, PA, she was a daughter of Nicholas and Kathleen (Sokol) Rotondo of Bridgeport. Noelle was the loving wife of Dr. John E. Salus and a doting mother to her three daughters: Haley, Hanna and Haven Salus, all of Mechanicsburg. She is also survived by a sister, Nadine (Kevin) Barnes of Ocean View, NJ; two brothers, Nicholas (Rebecca) Rotondo, Jr. of Bridgeport, PA and Jay Rotondo (Maryann Worrell) of Phoenixville, PA; mother and father-in-law, Elizabeth and Richard Salus of Hershey; three brothers-in-law: Richard (Jennifer) Salus of Media, PA, Tom (Charlene) Salus of Downingtown, PA and James (Jackie) Salus of Alexandria, VA; ten nephews and nieces: Caroline, Olivia & Nicholas Rotondo; Kendall & Devon Barnes; Tanner, Reid, Griffin, Ryan & Grace Salus; as well as many other loving family members. Noelle enjoyed a myriad of outdoor activities with her family including skiing, sailing, kayaking and hiking. She embraced all challenges and encouraged her children to always reach for the stars. Noelle was a loving mother of three beautiful girls who will sorely miss her. Dr. Rotondo graduated from Upper Merion Area School District, Class of 1985 and Ursinus College in 1989. She graduated from Philadelphia Osteopathic Medical School in 1994. She completed her internship at Community General Osteopathic Hospital in 1995, and then completed her emergency medicine residency at York Hospital in 1998, where she served as chief resident. As an assistant clinical professor of emergency medicine, Noelle enjoyed a career as a physician and was passionately involved in medical student and resident education. She was actively involved in PaACEP in many capacities as well as contributing articles and lectures various emergency medicine organizations. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Bridgeport on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 11:00 am. Officiating will be Rev. Salvatore J. Pronesti, pastor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and Msgr. Dr. Ronald Popivchak, pastor of SS. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church.In lieu of flowers, contributions in Noelle's memory may be made to Hospice of Central PA, 1320 Linglestown Rd., Harrisburg, PA 17110; or to the Live Strong Foundation, PO Box 6003, Albert Lea, MN 56007.
