Edmund J. Lubereski

May 25, 1942 — November 16, 2012

Edmund, "Ed", "Luke" was a life long Taconian. He was born and raised in Tacony and went to St. Leo's grade school than off to Father Judge High School. After graduating from High School, and as most young men at that time thinking about the Draft. This was the time of the Vietnam War and Edmund signed up to join the Navy in april 1964. Part of his tour was spent on the USS Oriskany, in China and he was honorably discharged in April of 1970. He started working at Bell Telephone after the service and stayed with them when they became Bell Atlantic and happily retired from Verizon in 2003. He was a wonderful and devoted son to his Mother. He was a caring and thoughtful brother to his four sisters. Edmund enjoyed spending time with his family on Holidays or just sitting down to a nice dinner. His many grand nieces and nephews kept him on his toes. Edmund also enjoyed fishing with his friends and was a sport's fan of the Phillies and Eagles.  He enjoyed taking trips to AC with his brother-in-law Marty. Edmund was only a phone call away from his family, friends and neighbors. He was always ready to assist anyone if they needed a ride to an appointment or just to talk about a problem or needed help in or around their home. He did not help people because he had to, he helped because he wanted to be there for them. He was very independent and never really asked for anything or complained about anything. In the last few months, it was our turn to give back to him everything he needed to get through his last days in comfort and peace.  Relatives, friends and employees of Verizon are invited to his visitation on Wednesday Nov. 21, 2012 from 10-11 AM and his funeral mass 11 AM at St. Leo the Great Church 6658 Keystone St. Phila., PA 19135.  He will be interred in Resurrection Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers Donations in his memory to American Cancer Society 1626 Locust St. Philadelphia, PA 19103 appreciated.
