Edna F. Pavina

December 18, 1929 — April 11, 2022

Our absolute angel, Edna “Sis” Pavina, of Lynwood Pennsylvania and Claymont Delaware, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 11, 2022 - surrounded by those who loved her and those who prayed from afar. Visitation will be held at St. Helena’s Church, 602 Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington from 10:00am to 10:50am on Friday, Apr 29, 2022, followed by a funeral mass at 11:00am. All who loved her or who loved her family are invited to celebrate her life. Sis was born in 1929 in Pennsville, New Jersey - daughter to the late Mary and Gilman Edwards. She was predeceased by her beloved sister and brother, Doris and Donnie, and by her husband of 60 years - Edward J Pavina. After World War II, Sis met her husband, Edward Pavina at her job at Scott Paper. He said she had the sweetest ankles in the whole office. They married in 1950, ultimately moved to Claymont, Delaware, and had 7 children over the next 20 years. Sis stayed at home and cared for all the kids with more love and patience than normal folks could or should muster. In spite of being shy, quiet, and artistic by nature - she played with her local bowling league and had many friends in her community. She also volunteered for her church, Holy Rosary, delivering Meals on Wheels to those in need. Sis and Ed ultimately retired to Angola Beach in Lewis, Delaware and rode a happy pontoon boat into the sunset until his passing in 2002. At that point, Sis came back to her family in north Delaware and was loved on with all our might these past 20 years. Sis was predeceased by 2 of her children, John Pavina of Newark, DE and Nancy Pavina of Wilmington, DE. Losing two of her children was her greatest pain, and she carried their memory with her and spoke of them with love, often. Sis is survived by 5 of her children - Kathleen Russo, Judy Pavina, Edward Pavina II, Teena Ziegler, and Donna-Lynn Pavina. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins who live all over the country and are reminded of her every time they feel great love or wear blue. Sis was a kind soul, and her love for Jesus Christ and the Blessed Mother glowed from her eyes. She was quiet, but mighty, and we are all better people for having been in the light she shared. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory to St. Helena’s (602 Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington, DE) or Brandywine Hundred Fire Co. (1006 Brandywine Blvd, Wilmington, DE ) would be appreciated.
