EDWARD J. CAIN, 92, of Norristown, husband of the late Elizabeth J. (Plecenik) Cain, of Norristown, PA died on Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at Saint Mary Villa in Lansdale, PA. Born in Pottstown, PA, he was the son of the late George Cain and Mary (McEvoy) (Cain) Osmun and devoted stepson of the late Philip Osmun. He proudly served for eleven years in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He was a U.S Postal worker for 28 years. Upon retirement from the Post Office in 1983, he worked as sacristan at his home parish of Visitation B.V.M. in Trooper, PA until 2010. Ed gave his life tirelessly to the Church and his family. He was a member of the Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus, Men of Malvern Retreat League and led the Catholic Charities Appeal in his parish for many years. He is survived by his daughters, Patricia, wife of Deacon Vincent Drewicz of Norristown, PA; Margaret, wife of Barry Barnett of West Chester, PA; Mary Cain of North Wales, PA; thirteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Carroll Cain, Jack Cain and Jerry Cain, and twin infant grandchildren, Michael and Appolyon Drewicz. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, May 14, 2016, in Visitation B.V.M. Catholic Church, 190 North Trooper Road, Norristown, PA at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Phoenixville, PA. A visitation will take place at Szpindor-Meyers Funeral Home, 101 North Park Avenue, Trooper, on Friday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:20 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be sent to Visitation B.V.M. in Trooper or to Catholic Charities Appeal, 100 North 20th Street, Suite 301, Philadelphia, PA 19103.
