Edward Joseph Cregan

August 5, 1927 — November 10, 2021

Edward Joseph Cregan passed away peacefully with his family surrounding him, on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes, DE. He was 94. Mr. Cregan was a resident of Ocean View, DE and was formerly of Wayne, PA. He received a Bachelor’s Degree from LaSalle University and worked in Industrial Sales until retiring. Ed was a former member of Mother of Divine Providence Church in King of Prussia. In his early years he enjoyed lifeguarding and bartending at the Riptide in Wildwood, NJ. He was a US Navy Veteran, serving as a Radarman Second Class (8/45-8/48). He was a hardworking family man who enjoyed traveling by camper all over the US with his wife and young children, working on home projects, spending time with his two brothers whenever time would permit over the years, and visiting with his grown children and grandchildren in more recent years. He was almost as big a fan of watching old Western movies as he was of cheering on the Eagles or Phillies. And being a first generation American whose parents emigrated from Ireland was one of his greatest sources of pride. He missed no opportunity to remind anyone who would listen that he was an Irishman. A man of strong faith, he is no doubt at peace in a better place. Born in Philadelphia, PA on August 5, 1927, he was the son of the late Cornelius and Elizabeth (McEnrey) Cregan; and the husband of the late Ardell Carol (Yohannan) Cregan. Surviving is his loving family including a son, Jimmy (Margie) Cregan; two daughters, Lisa (David) Desch and Marnie (Steve) Ferguson; seven grandchildren: Dan, Corey, Brian (Angie), Brittney, Jessica (John), Stephen, Colin and his first great-grandson on the way; a brother, Conrad (Patricia) Cregan; and many other loving family members. He was preceded in death by a brother, Barry Cregan. Funeral services and interment will be private. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Ed’s name to The American Cancer Society or The American Heart Association. Arrangements are by the Bacchi Funeral Home & Crematory, Ltd., Bridgeport, PA. Condolences to the family at www.bacchifh.com
